Working in Agriculture in Denmark — visa & traineeship rules 2026
Nataliya Bondar · Published 2/12/2026
Denmark's farms hire seasonal and year-round trainees from across the world, but the route in depends on where your passport is from. EU/EEA citizens can work without a permit; everyone else needs the right residence and work permit before starting.
Which permit applies to you
Most agricultural trainees from outside the EU arrive on a trainee permit, which requires a signed agreement with an approved Danish employer and a salary that matches collective-agreement rates. Bixter only works with employers who meet those rates, so your application clears faster.
Processing through SIRI (the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration) typically takes a few weeks once the paperwork is complete. Housing near the farm is arranged before you travel.
Tip: never start work before your permit is issued — it can jeopardise future applications.
